Description Gregor Petrin 2009-10-02 12:42:35 UTC
Version: 1.5.1 (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

This functionality is present in Google Reader and is one of the main reasons I am not using Akregator.

When using the Combined view, a continuous list of articles is presented in the right pane. For those users who would check a certain option in the configuration, e.g. 'Mark articles as read via scrolling', after an article is scrolled past (its title is no longer fully visible on the screen), that article would be marked as read. For articles the user would like to read later, a checkbox labeled 'keep unread' is present somewhere below or above the article.

The purpose of this functionality is to enable speed reading of feeds and variations on Google's implementation could also be implemented: either per-feed settings (as some feeds contain less and/or more valuable articles than others) or a shortcut that would toggle this functionality (e.g. on some days you would get 40 headlines 'Earthquake in Elbonia' - the news is important, but reading it once is still enough, so you would like to zip past it).
