Description Bartłomiej Zimoń 2009-09-27 00:55:31 UTC
Version:            (using Devel)
Compiler:          gcc (PLD-Linux) 4.4.1 20090918 (release)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Compiled sources

Have compiled and installed KDE 4.3.68 (KDE 4.4 >= 20090916)
but this affect also 4.3.67.

All compiled without patches - so clean sources
(i dont count patches to find libs to compilation
but these not changed here from 4.2.x).

After choose "leave ..." from desktop menu and next something from dialog "logout/restart/shutdown" (this affect also standard "K"/kde4 menu) menu from desktop disappears but something is saved on disk (looks like session) and logout stops on this.
Have desktop-plasma and all launched apps as before "logout".

One difference is no logout/restart/shutdown dialog, to shutdown i need go to terminal CTRL+ALT+F1 and press CTRL+ALT+DEL or login and launch "sudo service kdm restart"

Any solution for this?
Please write me what to check i know how gdb works but dont know what couse this problem.

To prevent easy questions:
1. on clean $HOME/.kde problem occurse
2. on newly created user problem occurse

Hibernate works.
Comment 2 Bartłomiej Zimoń 2009-09-27 02:55:35 UTC
suspend also - so it could be kdelibs/kdebase-workspace/kdm related bug.

Also affects me with KDE4.4 rc2 (4.3.95).
Comment 6 Bartłomiej Zimoń 2010-01-31 23:53:39 UTC
no it works now on 4.3.95
Comment 7 Bartłomiej Zimoń 2010-01-31 23:55:08 UTC
but it is funny - noone said why it was introduced
Comment 8 Tom Kijas 2010-02-01 00:17:10 UTC
Well it doesn't work. At least on my laptop, it had worked perfectely (with 4.3.95) and suddenly it didn't (also with 4.3.95). I didn't install anything, didn't do upgrade... Very strange thing. I try to uninstall kde-related packages with their conf. files and reinstall them again. Will write if it helps.
Comment 9 Tom Kijas 2010-02-01 00:27:50 UTC
no, didn't help. How did you repair it? :)

"RESOLVED as WORKSFORME" is WRONG!

I have this bug in KDE 4.4.2

First try, there is a logout confirmation dialog, but it does not logout!
Subsequent try, there is no logout configmation dialog, and it does not logout!

It's still a bug in KDE 4.4.2
Must disable logout sound notification to permit logout to succeed.

System Settings ->
Notifications ->
KDE System Notifications ->
Logout ->
Un-check -> Play a sound

This is still a problem in KDE 4.5.4 (up to date Kubuntu 10.10) and the solution #11 fixes it (just the location of the checkbox has slightly changed).
