Version: (using KDE 4.3.1) Installed from: Unspecified I'm, as non English user, like a lot to using applications translated to my mother language. Most areas are translated very well (much much better than stuff from company who produces frameworks with glasses :)). However even with good translations I sometimes experience problems like: *1 I know command in English, and I cant find it in local language, since a new word is used in translation/translation not very well done etc. *2 Not 100% is translated, thus forcing me to search twice for both local and English ones. *3 Its hard to communicate online since it is impossible to tell *exact* title of app or plasmoid It would be very useful if some strings like titles, application/plasmoids names would be shown in both local and English versions. I know, that to put everything in 2 languages is ridiculous bus small amount of such data could placed like: * Hidden text: thus kickoff etc would be able to look at both translations and solve *2 problem * As subtitle: in smaller font below translated title solving 3rd. * In *all* About windows solving 3rd. * An button to switch languages easily in Help * If it is possible, a custom shortcut + hover an translated text element would replace translated text original or display a popup with original text.
Same issue here! I want my system in english, on user in espagnol and other user in french. But the user session text is not fully translated. For set fully in user session the language I need set this variable of environment, which should by set by KDE: LANG="fr_FR.UTF-8" LC_COLLATE="C" Thanks to vote, thanks to fix it.
Those are well-articulated reasons. I'd say that a saner implementation might be some kind of momentary switch triggered by a global shortcut to briefly change all the text to English while it's held down.
I'm not changing things for an 11 year old request
