Description mateu 2009-09-17 12:45:00 UTC
Application that crashed: kwin
Version of the application: 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1)
KDE Version: 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1)
Qt Version: 4.5.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.28-15-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.04

What I was doing when the application crashed:
system was on overnight, woke up with the now infamous kwin crash - no dbg installed this time, but I now have kdebase-dbg installed in hopes to get more info next time. Please let me know if I should have another dbg package (unbuntu) installed to capture more info for a kwin crash.

It's crashing in the OpenGL driver. There is nothing we can do. Nevertheless the backtrace is as you already said quite useless. So I set to needsinfo until the backtrace clearly shows that the driver is faulty.
Comment 2 mateu 2009-09-17 15:05:42 UTC
So will having installed kdebase-dbg be sufficient to capture what is needed to proceed?

depends. As the crash happens in the driver the dbg symbols might be useful as well (in case you want to report against Xorg if it isn't a kwin bug). But I think you have an nvidia driver and there are no dbg packages for the proprietary driver.
