Version: 0.9.1 (using 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1), Debian packages) Compiler: cc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.30.5 ig got three "real" printers defined in system settings. the print dialog lists those three in alphabetical order and below two pseudo printers ("print to file (pdf)" and "print to file (postscript)"). the selected printer is the last real printer -- which is _not_ the default printer. instead the dialog should by default preselect the system's default printer.
i now set the default in cups' frontened -- and still kde ignores it. any chance someone will say something? where does kde get its ideas about the default printer from?
I can confirm this (KDE 4.6.1), but in my case it's the second printer (out of three) that is always selected by default, although my default printer is the first in the list. I always thought this happened because the second printer on the list USED to be my default printer, and when I changed that, the print dialog for some reason didn't get updated according to the new settings. Did you change your default printers in the same way? This bug is very annoying (and potentially harmful): my second printer is not located in my workplace, but elsewhere. I've printed private documents to the other place a few times, and once (when it was confidential) had to drive there to pick it up before someone found it on the printer tray. I know I should pay more attention to the print dialog, but the software has it's good share of the guilt.
Confirmed with KDE 4.11.5. In my case the first printer is always chosen by default even though I paused it. The second printer SHOULD be the default because the checkbox "Default printer" is checked but it is not. Is this report still valid with KDE 4.x?
sorry, last comment was wrong thread.
