Description MTGap 2009-09-13 21:56:07 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

You can view this topic which I started which eventually led me to discover that system tray was the cause of the high cpu usage: http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=80666

Now knowing that it is system tray when I add the tray to my panel, cpu usage of both plasma-desktop and xorg go into the 30s or higher causing my total cpu usage to be constantly in 100%. With it removed my cpu usage is now in the 20s for the most part. Not sure what the cause of this is, I ran Klipper, Kopete, Konversation, and Kontact in it. That doesn't appear to be the problem but something else that kept hitting xorg and plasma.

- Do you have hidden icons / icon categories in your System Tray? (bug 204070)
Thanks

Oh yes I had hardware hidden and that was causing the crazy CPU usage... That bug should be fixed. This is now a duplicate.
