Description Ben Boeckel 2009-09-12 18:16:36 UTC
I have a contact with UTF-8 characters in their name. When I choose to use the runner to send a message, it turns into two receivers in the composer.

=?utf-8?q?=EF=BF=BDa=3Flayan?=
Jack <example@example.com>

Clicking from KAddressBook works. Is this an issue with the runner or KMail not decoding the escaping from the runner correctly?

This also happens if the email address contains umlauts:

xdg-email "foo@bär.example.com"

Opens in KMail as:

foo@=?utf-8?B?YsOkcg==?=.example.com

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Seems to work in Kontact 5.3.0 and Plasma 5.7.4.
