Description Thomas Zell 2009-09-11 21:13:39 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

When I scroll in Konsole with SHIFT + PAGE UP/DOWN the speed is much lower than the usual key repeat frequency. The X Server uses up to 80% of my CPU resources while scrolling.

I use the latest nvidia driver 190.25 (earlier versions are affected as well). Turning off desktop effects does not make much of a difference.

On my laptop the speed of scrolling is much faster (same SuSE and KDE version, but Intel 945GM graphics chipset).

Can you try running Konsole with the "-graphicssystem raster" command line argument and see if that alleviates the problem.

konsole -graphicssystem raster

Yes, with "-graphicssystem raster" Konsole scrolls perfectly!

Whoops, sorry for this dupe! I realize now, that the problem has already been reported in bug 155174 and bug 172250.
