Description David Rankin 2009-09-09 22:51:21 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

The kde control center in kde 4.3.1 does not recognize and can't install .otf opentype fonts. I had several opentype fonts in a directory I needed to install. Using the kde control center in 4.3.1 and browsing to the directory showed none of the .otf fonts available.

I had to load kde3 to install the fonts. Using the kde3 control center font installer, I again navigated to the directory containing my needed .otf font files and the kde3 font installer recognized and installed the fonts without any problem.

This need fixing fast. Why won't kde4 install simple otf fonts?

Check bug 194563, this is an upstream issue in mimetypes. The OTF format was not recognized properly as the otf font mimetype, and therefore it is not shown in the file dialog. This was fixed on shared-mime-info recently (check bug 194563 comment 9)
KDE3 was not affected because it used another way to determine file types.
Thanks
