Description homoludens 2009-09-09 04:37:18 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 4.3.1)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

Something seems to be wrong with how Kmail handles sub-folders (i.e. 2nd level folders: Local Folder > Folder > Sub-folder).

Currently, when I try to import backups of my /kmail/mail folder, Kmail is only able to import mail saved in the 1st-level folders, none from the subfolders.

(I'm not entirely sure how Kmail handles subfolders and mail inside anyway: /kmail/mail doesn't show any entries related to my mail subfolders, although they, and the mail inside, is obiously there).

You will most likely find the subfolders in that dir but hidden.
Ex: I Created two folders "Test -> Test2"
These are shown as:
Test
.Test.directory -> Test2

(All subfolders in a maildir are hidden)

cp -Rvp of a top level folder has always successful backuped mails for me.

Bjoern,

the problem doesn't lie with backing up emails, but rather with restoring / reimporting them. I'll use your backup method next time when I'm backing up my email, will see whether that's getting me any further.

Cheers
