Version: (using KDE 4.3.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages KDE 4.3.1 Debian unstable compositing *off*, whether with the "Suspend Compositing" button, or by unchecking "Enable desktop effects". I'm talking about the tooltips/boxes that open up over the panel when the mouse points to some application icon on the panel or in the task selector on the panel. If I slide the mouse pointer from side to side over the panel, the popups open and close correctly, following the mouse. But, if I: 1 open a window (other than iceweasel) covering the area of the desktop above the panel (not covering the panel, for example just open and maximize almost anything) 2 move the mouse pointer to an icon on the panel until the popup opens over the window in #1 3 move mouse pointer *upward*, onto the desktop until the popup closes 4 move the mouse pointer over the desktop sideways 5 move the mouse pointer *downward* back onto some *other* icon on the panel Then: The new popup appears, and also a hole through to the desktop appears where that *previous* popup was in step 2. This happens every time. Turning on compositing fixes it.
The holes you are seeing are described/reported on bug 177959. Were you reporting any other issue ? Thanks
I did search but didn't see it. Yes, this is my bug. Thank you. Hey, thank you for working on KDE. It is bold and beautiful and I appreciate it. Thanks *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 177959 ***
This is clearly a Xorg bug, I was able to write a xlib-only testcas (as I was asked for), but then nothing happend. If you want this bug fixed, please vote for it and make some polite noise at: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22566
