Description Thomas Reitelbach 2009-09-04 14:09:43 UTC
Version: 4.1 (enterprise4 0.20090605.977848) (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), MinGW 3.4.5)
Compiler: gcc.exe
OS: Microsoft Windows (i686) release 5.1 (XP Professional)

I downloaded and installed Kontact for windows (beta package from june 2009).

In our enterprise we are already using kontact for linux to work with the cool calendar. Now I'm trying kontact for windows and I stumble upon timezone issues.

In Kontact for Linux we have set korganizers timezone to "Europe/Berlin" and all calendar entries are using this timezone.
I tried to make the same setting in korganizer for windows, but this timezone is unavailable. The list contains completely different timezones than the linux version.

I figured to set the timezone to "Central Europe Standard Time" and chose to use "keep absolute times" in the next warning dialog (because I don't want our calender entries to get manipulated). This seems to solve the issue at the first glance, but the setting does not seem to be saved to any configuration file. After a restart of kontact the timezone is set to UTC again.

Please contact me for further information, I would be glad to be helpful in any way.

cheers
thomas

adding Till to this report...

Thomas, yes Windows has a completely different set of timezones.

I don't think the June version of the Enterprise Windows release had properly working timezones. We fixed that more recently.

Till, we need to ask for a more modern package to be put on the Kolab site

Thank you for your answer.
If this issue has already been fixed, it would be cool to have a new package available. I would be glad to run some tests if a new package has been uploaded to the download location.

we contacted the people who create the packages to make a new one available as soon as they can.

at this moment, I don't have a time estimate.

will try to keep you posted once I know more.

I tried the new beta package from december 2009 and the timezone issue seems to be fixed :)
