Description Andreas Pietzowski 2009-09-03 14:18:49 UTC
Version: 4.3.1 (using KDE 4.3.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I use KDE 4.3.1 from September 1st and this bug is still there:

When you have a remote FTP ical file like ftp://username@domain/directory/file.ics then korganizer asks for the password. I check the option "remember password". I guess it should be stored in my KWallet but there is no entry about that in my wallet file. After 10 minutes (my refresh interval of the remote file) a pop-up appears on my desktop and requests me to enter my password for the FTP account. The strange thing is that the password is already typed into the password field and also the username. I only have to press OK and it works.

But it is really time consuming and annoying that I have to press the OK button every 10 minutes again and again.

When I extend the remote URL with username:password it seems that the authentication works without a pop-up. but I don't want to store the password in my plain KOrganizer settings.

Thanks for fixing :)

I was wrong, the password is also not remembered when I use a URL like ftp://user:pass@domain for the remote ical file.

The Bug still exists in 4.3.2
Comment 3 Volker Fröhlich 2010-01-26 21:25:55 UTC
And continues in 4.3.4

...and continues in 4.4.0. Every 5 minutes an authorization dialog pops up and asks me again and again for my username and password. The password is already filled in (maybe through kwallet feature) but I always have to click OK in the dialog that it disappears. That's really annoing because other FTP connection within KDE are queued until I close that authorization dialog.

Another thing: Only ftp works, sftp is not working at all in KOrganizer since KDE 4.4.0.

This bug is still present in KDE 4.4.1!

It should not be that difficult to fix this really annoying bug, is it? It was fixed in 4.3.5 and appeared again, plus it's getting even worth in the KDE 4.4 series because sftp doesn't work anymore.

This bug is still existing in 4.4.2! Come on guys. KDE claims to be network transparent but one of the core components (the calendar from kontact in this case) can not even handle FTP in the background since months right now?

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of korganizer (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 8 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 22:02:16 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
