Version: (using KDE 4.3.0) Compiler: i386 OS: Linux Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages Shade (rollup) / unshade (roll down) icons on Ozone win deco are swaped. See the images below. [1] shows a "downward arrow icon" when the window is unshaded and the intention is shade (roll up) this window by clicking on the "downward" icon! [2] shows an "upward arrow icon" when the window is shaded and the intention is to unshade (roll down) the window by clicking on the "upward" icon! These two icons should be swaped. A simple solution! The change is easy to do. However I think the current icons might be like they are by design. In the current design the "shade" button has the same arrow as the "minimize" button, with a bar to say that you "minimize to title bar". While the unshade button is "maximize from title bar". If the other way around, people might get confused (at least: I do) by the fact that "shade" and "maximize" have the same arrow orientation (even if the "bar" of the shade button is located at the top of such arrow), and same for "unshade" and "minimize". What do you think ? (in a sense: having the minimize button being an arrow pointing upward as counter-intuitive as is the upward pointing shade button. I think).
sorry about the last comment (in a sense ...). The "minimize" points downward which in most cases is ok (except when you have the task bar at the top (like I do)
After discussion with the artist (Pinheiro), we agree that both (current and suggested) buttons have pros and cons: The current arrow orientation are indeed counter-intuitive in terms of which direction the window is actually shaded/unshaded to, but are consistent with the "maximize" and "minimize" buttons. The suggested change is the exact opposite. (imagine a title bar with a downward pointing minimize button, upward pointing maximize button, and upward pointing shade button ...) We prefer keep the buttons unchanged.
Hmm. I never thought of shade/unshade as a parallel thing to minimize/maximize. I always read them as changes with respect to the titlebar. So, shade == roll-up and unshade == roll-down. But I see your point-of-view too. I think my way of thinking was a hang-over from the _entire_ KDE history. Consider all the (KDE3-style) decorations in SystemSettings > Appearence > Windows, except the ones inspired by oxygen (ozone, nitrogen). The inconsistency is obvious. Anyways, personal choices differ. Thanks.
