Version: 4.x (using KDE 4.3.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Unspecified Linux in KDE 4.x I don't see any simple animations like minimize/maximize/restore... these animations was in KDE 3.x, 2.x and may be in 1.x ... but not in 4.x! Yes, composite manager this solve with our effects, but I can't use composite manager, because this eat more energy from notebook batteries and is incompatible with some OpenGL applications (like googleearth). these simple effects are very useful, when I click on app in taskbar and I see if actual window is minimizing now, or restoring... at this time, is window only hidden or shown and I don't know if window was minimized or restored. thanks.
sorry no. We did the compositing effects to get rid of all those hacks. It is a bad idea to add these hacks again for a very small user group which do not want to use compositing or has old hardware.
I don't have too old hardware, you think that i945 not worth noting ? at this time exist too many notebooks, (sorry nEtbooks) where compositing is not good idea. when I turn ON compositing then battery life is about 3.5 hour instead 5, on my VAIO TZ, which is 2 years old.
