Version: (using KDE 4.3.0) Compiler: g++ OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages As it is, it only searches in the apps currently displayed - the most recent ones. This is both counter-intuitive and really limiting to the usefulness of the mini kde-look browser thing. I filed this as a bug since the current behaviour is really not acceptable. How to reproduce: Go to kde-look.org, in the relavent section (eg plasmoids), search for any search term (eg NVIDIA). Notice the number of search results. Go to add widget, install new widgets, download new plasma widget, and use the search box in the applet to search for the same term. Notice the lack of search results. Also of note is that it doesn't always work properly after you download it, due to the wide variety of ways people package their things up. It should extract the file from whatever archive format it's in, if any, and then search for files with the necessary extensions (.plasma, .skz, etc.). If the installation fails, it should say so.
I think this has been fixed for a while now.
I think this can be closed, it was implemented with the new knewstuff several releases ago.
