Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Steps to reproduce:
1) open Krunner (Alt-F2)
ii) Type fast, and use backspace
D) Krunner locks up and is unresponsive for about ten seconds

this really isn't enough detail to even start working on identifying the problem or possible solutions.

i'd suggest turning off plugins to see if it's a particular runner that's causing the problems. more details than just "i typed fast and use backspace (at some unspecified time and in some unspecified way)" would also be helpful.

Disabling the Calculator and Value Converter (translated) plugins made the issue non-reproducible. Reenabling both plugins, however, is not reproducing the issue. I will close this in the meantime (as I cannot reproduce) and if it reoccurs I will reopen when I have more certain reproduction instructions.

Thanks, Aaron, sorry for the vagueness. When I filed I was in the middle of something important so I just banged out the quick bug report.

As other users report that they have a similar problem, and I have provided more information, I am reopening. Thanks.

where did you report more information?

I have a brand new, clean install of 4.4.3 (Debian Sid/Unstable) and I experience 'freezes' as well.
I've put quotes around it since it appears to freeze, ie doesn't seem to do anything for > 10 seconds (sometimes way longer).
For example: Alt+F2 to start Krunner, type "kwrite" <enter> ... doesn't seem to do anything.
So I start kwrite from the ALI (Lancelot in my case) and kwrite starts and then starts another
instance, probably from the Krunner (since Krunner window disappears).

Other times though, it works straight away, even with the same command.
So it's not very consistent. I know it's difficult/impossible to find the cause of this with this kind of information, but I do wanted to confirm the bug.

I have exactly the same: when I type fast and mistype something, I start quickly pressing backspace to clear mistyped text - it freezes. It was in 4.3 and it is in 4.4.3 with clean .kde dir.

Little update:
It pretty close to figure out what plugin is "guilty" and it looks like it's a "Places" (I will try to recheck it ).

The issue (reexplained): I start typing quickly and type smth like "amamrok". Then I press backspace to clean line up to "ama". Looks like it freezes when the string becomes something krunner has suggessions for (it suggests nothing for "amam" and longer, but it sugggests Amarok for "ama").

Fixed with Plasma 5.
