This happens the last few weeks in Kontact with akregator and kmail:

Sometimes Kontact becomes almost unresponsive due to fetching feeds and mail at the same time, mostly but not always after startup of Kontact. Connection is over a SQUID proxy, if important. I have a plenty of feeds in akregator and an IMAP account to a server in our LAN. If one of the feeds to fetch hangs and at the same time the IMAP account is accessed by kmail all hangs the whole time unless the feed fetching gets a timeout (which is about a minute). Kontact and all its plugins are unusable during this time und do almost not respond on any input.

This happens even if I switch of automatic fetching (interval and startup) at all, seems to concern mainly IMAP fetching in kmail. I'll make a new report.
