Version: (using KDE 4.3.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Okay here goes pls bear with me as I am a Linux novice. I have installed the Kontact package in Ubuntu 8.04. Ubuntu 8.04 (tried 9.04 and didn't get on with it) Kontact Rel 3.5.10 Kmail Rel 1.9.10 In my synaptic package manager which I used to download and install kontact its telling me I've got the latest version and lists it as 4:3.5.10, anyone know what the prefixed "4" is for, am assuming this means I've actually got 3.5.10 installed. When i originally tried to file this bug it wouldn't let me when i stated I was using a version earlier than 4. But when i go to the "Stable version Getting KDE" page and select the 4.3 link there are no choices for Ubuntu. There is kubuntu 9.0.4 but I don't believe I can use this or the Debian packages (which are stated as being unstable!!). What do I do as I seem to be in a bind? Or do I just give up and use thunderbird. The problem I am having is suddenly kmail is not downloading from my Gmail account any new emails which come in. It seemed to be working fine a few days ago. There are no error messages it just reports there was nothing to download yet when I log into gmail there are unread emails which have just arrived!!!
I can't tell you how you can get the current KDE 4.3 version for your Ubuntu, but the KDE version you're using is already long outdated. Kmail in KDE 4.3 is at version 1.12. Please get the latest KDE version and see if you're problem still persists. If you need help on a user level, please have a look at e.g. techbase.kde.org or ask on a mailing list (either Ubuntu or e.g. kdepim-users@kde.org )
