Version: (using KDE 4.3.0) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Please add the option to open each folder in a new window to Dolphin. Thanks.
This i8s a function, essential for a file manager, not a browser, and included in Nautilus, Windows Explorer, Mac OS Finder, and Konqueror from KDE3.5. I wonder why this function has been removed.
I would also like to see the feature added to dolphin, perhaps as configurable middle-click. The feature could add an option to make a middle-click open in a new window, or an option to add a key-modifier to a middle-click action and set that combination to "open in new tab" or "open in new window" at the user's choice.
Sorry but middle-click option would not suffice. I want an option to make it default left-click action like in KDE3, Nautilus and other file managers. Note also that the option to open folders in new windows theoretically exist in Konqueror, but is broken as of KDE 4.3. The checkbox simply does not work.
> Sorry but middle-click option would not suffice. Then I would suggest having the best of both worlds: make it fully configurable. That is, make it possible to set the default action for a left-click on a folder, as well as a separate option to set the action taken for a middle-click. When I used konqueor in kde 3.5, I liked being able to open folders in the same window with one type of click, and opening them in a new window with a different type of click. It would be nice to have this behavior in dolphin under kde4.
It would be a good idea to have Dolphin at least having file management capabilities of KDE3's Konqueror.
