Version: 0.70.90 (using 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0), Gentoo) Compiler: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.30-zen1-wl-IBM-T43-27121-g4865c4e-dirty 1. Open Chatwindow 2. Go to Settings-> Configure Shortcuts 3. Set any shortcut settings 4. Hit apply (the entry is saved in kopetechatwindoui.rc) 5. close chat window 6. reopen a chat window... the settings are not loaded... I hope someone can fix this small issue. I guess a small updateActionSettings or something is missing.
I have a similar problem in kde 4.4rc2 with kile: 1. start kile 2. set shortcut for "next" to something (doesn't matter if normal or alternative) 3. save, quit kile 4. re-start kile, settings is not there any longer Maybe this problem is somewhere in kdelibs?
Here using: * Kopete Version 1.0.80 * Kile Version 2.0.83 * KDE 4.4.62 (KDE 4.5 >= 20100203) - kdelibs r1084462 I could not reproduce both. Can anybody recheck it, please? Thanks.
So then it might be a config issue. Where are those shortcuts saved? I'll try to move that file and then re-check.

Deleting the file for kile fixed it. In kopete I noticed the following: I have set default shortcut for previous / next in systemsettings. Now that shortcut I wanted for next/prev tab in kopete not history. So that conflicted... however I tried to change the default for next/prev in kopete and that one was not saved... So it looks like I can't override the settings from systemsetting in an application? Can you reproduce this?
(In reply to comment #5) > I have set default shortcut for previous / next in systemsettings. Could you please describe more what you're doing? Which previous/next: page, tab? Where did you set it? Standard Keyboard Shotcuts, Global Keyboard Shortcuts? I know these question may sound strange and boring to answer, but it's important to have clear test case to certify we're testing the same thing. BTW, what is your current KDE version? Thanks in advance =)
The shortcuts I'm talking about are called "Back" and "Forward". You can set those default values in systemsettings->Keyboard & Mouse-> Configuration of standard keybindings. (These are _not_ global shortcuts!) Its 4.4rc2
Ok. I assigned Alt+Right for "Activate Next Tab" and Alt+Left for "Activate Previous Tab" in Kopete's shortcut configuration, i.e., the same combination already defined in systemconfig->Keyboard & mouse -> Standard Keyboard Shortcuts for Back/Forward. What happened then? When I tried to use those shortcuts right after setting them in Kopete, a dialog appeared saying "ambiguous key combination" - I suppose due to a conflict with the system settings definition. BUT after restarting kopete, the shortcuts work properly. (BTW I think we're starting to discuss another bug =P)
What I was talking about: Use the very same action in both settings. (And none else... so no ambigous key combination) Just set back/forward in systemsettings and then in kopete as well. (like overriding this setting in kopete)
