Description Benjamin M 2009-08-22 12:36:17 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I first posted this here.
When I add the search bar to the Dolphin tool bar, it will only be displayed until I close Dolphin. If I reopen Dolphin, it is gone. If I want it in the top right corner again, I have to first go to and then exit the tool bar setup. (In the screenshot linked below, you can see the search bar's separator in the top right corner, but the searchbar itself is missing.) This behavior stays the same no matter if Strigi is actually up and running or not.

Also, when I have the search bar activated, my Dolphin will open in two instances when I start it - one is the normal window, the other one seems to be just an empty window frame. A screenshot of this can be found here.

Unfortunately I cannot tell why the search bar is causing this error on my install.

Could you please check whether deleting/renaming the file ~/.kde4/share/apps/dolphin/dolphinui.rc helps? I faced a similar issue when upgrading to KDE 4.3 (the issue is not in Dolphin itself, but seems to be in kdelibs).

That actually does the trick! Now both the search box displays correctly and the additional frame is gone. Thank you!

No luck for me. I'm facing the exact same problem as AlvanX (although on debian Sid). Deleting dolphinui.rc didn't help

Sorry, my fault. I should have deleted ~/.kde/share/..., not ~/.kde4/share...

Problem solved, case closed!

Can this be marked as resolved? Should be done automatically on upgrades tho, just to be thorough.
