Description hokki pranata 2009-08-20 18:07:24 UTC
Version: 1.11.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), 4.2.2-12.fc11 Fedora)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i686.PAE

I frequently received many messages in 1 check mail interval from yahoogroups. On kmail version 1.9.6, I used order by date, but I get annoyed by email sender with wrong date setting on his/her computer. I had already report it in http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161962. Now I've upgraded to kmail 1.11.2 but I still find the same problem. Received messages don't ordered by arrival even when the inbox sort order is None (Storage Order). Actually I apply the "Filter messages if they are greater than 50000 bytes". But this time when the POP Filter dialog appeared, I prefer to receive all the messages. I had the screenshot from yahogroups messages list and from my kmail inbox for my gmail account which received those messages. But it looks like I can't attach it here.

Just to be clear, the problem you report is: mails are not sorted in arriving order, right ?
If so, then it's a duplicate of bug 190088
If you agree, please set this bug to duplicate or tell me and I do.

I think my problem is rather different. I'd already unsorted my inbox to None
(Storage Order), but I filter the incoming messages if they are greater than
50000 bytes. OK, I will try to remove the filter and see the result.

I don't understand what the filter has to do with the sorting order in your inbox folder.
Or do you mean the POP Filter dialog should be sorted like your inbox (which would not work as the mails get filtered after they are downloaded and probably moved to different folders with different sorting rules) ?

I set the filter from the Adanced tab on Receiving Account Section of Configure
Kmail ... on Settings menu, not from Configure POP Filters on the same Settings
menu. Because I think the filtering process was done before all the messages
got downloaded from the mail server, I just guess it maybe it would affect on
the ordering of the messages when they were processed to be downloaded.
What I really want is all the messages on the mail server can be downloaded to
my kmail inbox in the same order as the had on the orginal server. If some of
them don't meet the filter criteria, and I chose not to download it, their
position in kmail inbox will be skip. If I choose to download later, sure it's
true that their positiion in kmail inbox won't be the same as the original one
in the server.
While replying your email, I just find there are some messages from yahoogroups
arrive in my qprana@gmail.com. Before I downloaded it, I remove the setting of
based on bytesize filter for my account in kmail, make snapshots from
yahoogroups, gmail inbox, & after then after the download complete, the kmail
inbox. I hope you don't mind--pardon me if I'm wrong--if I attach them here.
Actually one of the email sender, frankysibarany, had wrong timestamp
setting--about 6 hours later--on his device.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
