What I was doing when the application crashed:
Everything was working well after the upgrade to kde 4.3. I then did a routine update of my Debian unstable system, which I think included a kernel update and possibly also libc. Now the plasma workspace crashes at login and immediately brings up the bug reporting system. Using the bug search system it seems that there are others with the same problem,
