Description Luigi 2009-08-18 13:18:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

My pc have 2 units, the first is a dvd reader, and the second is a dvd rewriter unit.
When I insert an audio cd in the first unit everything run normally, kaffeine play it, and dolphin can navigate in my audio cd.
but when I insert the same cd in the second unit, it do not run.
Kaffeine do not read it and dolphin, instead, show me this message: Could not open.
Then, when I connect to my pc an another external dvd reader with usb cable, I have the same problem, both kaffeine and Dolphin. Kde, do not read my audio cd.

Is the second device correctly configured? Can you use it with data CD?
Comment 2 Luigi 2009-08-19 15:01:01 UTC
Yes, the second device is correctly configured, with data cd it run correctly.
Comment 3 FiNeX 2009-08-19 19:17:28 UTC
@Dario F: could this be related to solid?

dolphin says "could not read" when using audio cd on /dev/sr0

using /dev/sr0:
audio cd could not read - dolphin
audio cd can read - k3b
data dvd-r can read - dolphin
data dvd-r can read - k3b

using /dev/sr1:
audio cd can read - dolphin
audio cd can read - k3b
data dvd-r can read - dolphin
data dvd-r can read - k3b

/dev-sr0 is a dvd rom
/dev/sr1 is a dvd rewritable
I'd like to be able to view audio cds using both drives.

When doing a sudo lshw -C disk

I changed my audiocd io slave configuration from /dev/cdrom to /dev/cdrom1.
Dolphin still is unable to view my audio cd with /dev/sr0
Amarok also does not read audio CD on dual DVD drive system.
I'm using Amarok 2.3.0 and KDE 4.4.2 from Kubuntu 10.04 LTS.
I have a dvd rom and a dvdrw.
K3b recognizes both drives.
If I disconnect my dvd-rw then dolphin is able to view my audio cd using the
dvd drive.
I want to be able to view the audio cd in both drives and without disconnecting
my dvd-rw.

Just for giggles, I installed ubuntu 10.04 and I was able to view an audio cd
using my dvd rom drive. I'm a kde girl so, I'll wait it out to see if there i
a fix for this.

Given the age and running KDE 4, I'm closing this as unmaintained. Let us know if it's not working more recently.
