Version: (using KDE 4.3.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Zoom in/out option for video, like it was in Kaffeine 0.8.8 or earlier. This wish was written to the Kaffeine bug tracker, but was said: "Both DragonPlayer and Kaffeine4 use Phonon as engine, and atm Phonon does not provide zoom in/out API."
I agree. For the bug filed against kaffeine 1.0 see #159715. Devs said that it relies on phonon offering zoom-support.
Why would this be useful?
I've quite a few times had files which were "badly" encoded and might have had just some noise on the edges, that could easily be "cropped" by zooming in a bit. Also it might be that you have a "wide" image and view it on a 4:3-screen (possibly), and in those cases you might want to zoom in a bit - cropping of a bit from left and right, but increasing see overall picture-size to be able to see it better. "Zooming" imho could also be offered by a feature allowing to "crop" the image selectively (and then fitting the resulting image on the screen). It was possible in earlier versions of Kaffeine for example and I must admit that I missed it when upgrading to the Phonon-based version.
Isn't that what the videowidget's scalemode already does? (granted the possibilities are limited to two options, but I personally do not feel very motivated adding code for the sake of working around crappy video encoders)
What are the other use cases than the 2 already existing options.
