Description Steven Vollom 2009-08-17 15:06:46 UTC
Version: 1.11.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.28-11-generic

A few days ago from (17 Aug. 2009) I received 8 updates. Immediately following the installation of the updates, I became unable to use Kmail. Requesting new emails got the above Error message.

Kmail worked fine before the updates. I have checked the configuration and confirmed that Kmail is properly configured. The Browser works fine, and i am sending this report from the browser, so my DSL and ISP are working properly.

I scanned the entire list of kmail bugs looking for the starting words 'Could not' because I copy and pasted the error message in your short Description, above.

I very much want to help you find the defects that may be caused when perfecting Kmail, but there must be a better way to have me confirm the repetition of a report than the one you are using.

Perhaps you could request that each time an error report is included at the time of the appearance of the bug, it be copy and pasted. That way, huge blocks of errors could be eliminated from the readers check, getting to the errors that are most likely similar to the one being reported. That way, first level of check could be alphabetical.

Next, if you could request that the best one word description of the error be included, the second check could further isolate similarities of errors.

It takes so long to even scan such a long list, looking for a key word, that it must be possible to provide a search tool to make it easier.

I suspect only a few are willing to make a proper search, further complicating your efforts to find errors that duplicate. I will continue to do my best, because I so very much appreciate the free use of your application, but it sure would be nice to have this process simplifies a bit. Thanks! Steven
