Description François Rey 2009-08-16 13:17:03 UTC
Version: 0.5.0 (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

Now that KMail (since KDE4.3) can embed images in the email text, it would be nice to have the choice of embedding images or to attach them.

Moved to a more appropriate component

This bug does not belong to kmail, it was reported correctly against kipi-plugins / send mail. Could you please move it back where it was?

Just to make this enhancement request clearer:
It's about the kipi plugin send mail which provides the send mail feature to digikam, gwenview, etc.
Its present behavior is to include images as attachments.
The requested feature is to let users choose between embedding the images within the email text or as attachments (current behavior).

Move back to kipiplugins.

This cannot be implemented for all mail client.

The new Send by mail tool from digiKam core is dedicated to run outside Linux, and not only with Kmail, but Apple Mail.app under MacOS and Outlook under Windows.

It's typically difficult to found the obscur options to attach files to a new message from command line, so to embed file in an HTML message body, this will increase the puzzle for all mail applications supported.

I close this file as WONTFIX.
