Description Hrishikesh Mehendale (हृषीकेश मेहेंदळे) 2009-08-14 18:29:44 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I upgraded Kubuntu 9.04 to run KDE 4.3.0 (using their backports repo, per instructions on the website). However, after upgrade, I cannot login to KDE because of a plasma crash at login. The backtrace indicates the crash to be in the network manager applet (specifically, the wireless interface manager), as below.

I upgraded yesterday evening (13th August 2009, 1700 PDT). Today morning I saw bug 202567 comment 1 (when filing the bug report) and did an "apt-get dist-upgrade" for good measure.

Backtrace:

Application: Plasma Workspace (plasma), signal SIGSEGV

Comment 1 Dario Andres 2009-08-14 22:36:59 UTC
The backtrace is bug 201425.
The crash is caused by the networkmanager widget which is a bit unstable right
now. If you installed it from Ubuntu packages, update them or remove them. If
you installed it by source, be sure to maintain it updated too. (or just remove
it and use the non-plasma version of the networkmanager application ). Thanks
