Version:            (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

When I choose shutdown through the k-menu and confirm that it's what I want to do, nothing more happens. KDE won't let me logout, restart or shut down.
When I choose shutdown again from the k-menu, I don't even get the confirm dialog.
Perhaps it is blocked?

can you see if the kded4 process is running?

actually I just reinstalled my computer and I didn't transfer my kde settings. now it restarts. If I experience it again I'll answer your question and reopen.

I seem to have exactly this problem. After clicking logout it did close opera for me, nothing else. The kded4 process is running. Using 4.3.0.
