Version: unknown (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Kubuntu packages) Compiler: cc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.28-14-generic Hello, I have regular freeze-ups of the keyboard, after restart keyboard working properly The system is Ubuntu 9.04, interface KDE
Vahram, can you specifiy your problem in more detail? Does your keyboard stop working and everything else still works? I have a similar problem and I am not sure if it is a hardware problem or KDE or another software component (such as Xorg). My problem looks like the following: - Suddenly the keyboard stops working (even CAPS-lock/NUM-lock doesn't work, LED) - Mousepointer still works, clicking does not work - Nothing on the desktop is accessable anymore but visible - Amarok for example still plays music - The computer "reacts" to usb connect/disconnect of devices (I can see that through LED of harddisk) Are you experiencing similar problems?
i have similar problems like geroxp@web.de on fedora 11/12 and ubuntu 9.04. @geroxp@web.de: can you still switch to console with alt+ctrl+f3 e.g.? two weeks ago it happened to a friend of mine at the computer pool of my university running opensuse 11.1 but it was a gnome session. so it might be an xorg bug
Hello, Yes I have the same problem
how often does it happen to you? for me it happens sometimes once an hour. sometimes i can work for five ours without problems? do you think that the keyboard status applet is the right address? i notice the freezing always during windows (alt+tab) or desktop switches. so it might be a kwin bug
I'm having the same problem. It definitely mostly happened during window/desktop switch. I suspect kwin too and I think that switching to virtual terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F?) and killing and restarting kwin (killall kwin && kwin) made my keyboard work again. Can someone confirm that?
switching the virtual desktop and then hit alt+tab often with interruptions reproduces the bug for me. (kwin --replace) makes keyboard responsive again. so it should be addressed to kwin
this time also the mouse button events were frozen. but killing kwin via ssh made everything responsive again
