Description Oliver Putz 2009-08-13 09:30:24 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Steps to reproduce:

1) Log into KDE
2) Restart the X server (CTRL + Alt + Backspace)
3) When automatically coming back to the login screen, log into KDE again
4) Log out again
5) Log in again
6) See that much of the desktop is screwed. Some examples are:
6a) All windows lack their border decoration
6b) The pager plasmoid in the taskbar shows only one desktop. This setting also cannot be changed any longer

In order to remedy the problem, one has to restart the X server once again as done in step 3. Subsequent login / logout attempts won't solve the problem.

As I witnessed problems with window decorations as well as with plasmoids (pager), I am not exactly sure which part of KDE is at fault here. (kwin?)
