Description Hartmut 2009-08-11 17:49:41 UTC
Version: 1.0 (using 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0) "release 155", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.27.23-0.1-default

I installed "devices_automount" from Kde 4.3-Factory. it appears in PersonalSettings, I startet the service and tried it. Nothing worked. The devices appear within the list and I can check them, but nothing happens, no automounting at all.

"devices_automount" ? What is the name of the package ?
The only automounter I know is one that was recently moved to KDE svn code, and it wasn't even tested for 4.4; so I wonder how it ended up in a repository for KDE4.3. Or may be you are talking about another package, app

It is "device-automounter svn1008219-1.2-x86_64" von KDE 4.3 Playground
and KDE4 Factory and even
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Playground/openSUSE_11.1_KDE_42

"A KCM module that provides automounting within KDE4 for removable
devices. Several options can be set on the KCM page. The intention is to
add more intelligence to it, such as only mounting devices at login if
they were mounted when you logged out.

When the OpenSUSE packager packaged it, it was in playground. Shortly after he packaged it, I got a mail from him about a few problems he found with it. I already fixed those and it is now in kdereview.

I highly suggest either checking out the current SVN or waiting for it to get into kdebase next week. I suggest that because I made some slight tweaks to the KCM page's wordings and fixed the .desktop file to actually run at login.

For your reference though, device-automounter only automounts devices that have been mounted before (internally, this is called "being a known device"). It doesn't blindly automount every device under the sun when they get plugged in unless you tell it to in the KCM. But even then it only automounts devices when you login or when they are attached, and not when you save the settings.

Hi,

I tried the new version svn1013818-2.1-x86_64 and got nothing more than
before ...
