Description heart1010 2009-08-11 16:57:23 UTC
Version: 0.6.6 (using 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0) "release 155", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.0)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.20-0.4-default

I don't get any popup or something like this with KNotify on my used openSUSE system and newest Choqok version.

Doesn't it work with latest KDE 4.3?

Check if notifications are enabled in KDE notification configurations

There wasn't any change on notifications...
Comment 2 heart1010 2009-08-12 09:05:53 UTC
Yes, it's enabled. I made a screenshot of the configurations...

See here: http://img1.abload.de/img/choqokw0mn.png
Comment 3 Mehrdad Momeny 2009-08-12 12:50:30 UTC
Thanks,

Another possibility is that notifications sets to "LibNotify" Configure Choqok-> General -> Notifications ...

BTW, Do you have notifies for any other kde app!?

It's really strange, It's works here (KDE4.3), And there isn't any change on this part of Choqok
Comment 4 heart1010 2009-08-12 13:12:06 UTC
In "Choqok-> General -> Notifications" I have

- KNotify
- 10 Seconds

And yes, I have notifications for e.g. new incomming mails (KMail) and there the KNotify window appears without any problems....
Comment 5 heart1010 2009-08-12 13:31:43 UTC
...one small thing I mentioned is the "false" Translation in this notifications config.

I use kde 4.3 german translation and in "Choqok-> General -> Notifications" there is

"Benachrichtigungsdauer: 10 Sekunden,"

...so in the field where I can set the seconds there is the word "Sekunden" (correct) followed by a comma (,) which is false I think.

Can this be the reason!?

P.S.: In "Choqok-> General -> General" there is also a field for Update timeline interval and here the field is correct, there is "Minuten" correct (no comma here).
Comment 6 Mehrdad Momeny 2009-08-12 14:00:37 UTC
No this shouldn't be the reason! This is just a translation mistake ;)

BTW, You can aware KDE German translators about it
Comment 7 heart1010 2009-08-12 14:09:06 UTC
I only thought it COULD be the problem because this is directly in the field where i can set the seconds (not only a text anywhere).

Strange thing: If I set the choqok language (help -> set application language...) to english there is also a mistake (.) there:

see picture (german/english screenshot): http://www.abload.de/img/choqok3e6ip.png
Comment 8 Mehrdad Momeny 2009-08-12 14:23:08 UTC
Oh, I see this . on my system too!
So it's not the problem as i tell you before!
Comment 9 heart1010 2009-08-12 14:30:59 UTC
Hhmmmm strange :-(

(I really would like to see a notifications when a twitter comes in...)
Comment 10 eightmillion 2009-08-26 07:50:30 UTC
I don't get any notifications from Choqok either. I've tried libnotify and knotify. The settings look alright in System Settings and in Choqok. In System Settings, "Show a message in a popup" is checked. In Choqok it's set to knotify with show all new statuses in one notification enabled and notification duration set to 15 seconds. I'm on KDE 4.3 and don't have any problems with any other notifications. I was previously using Choqok version 0.6.1 and I compiled 0.6.6 yesterday hoping that notification would work, but they still don't.

This problem is really strange.

BTW, Most of things on Choqok are going to be changed. And one of them is notifications, So, you have to wait for next releases and new notifications implementation...
Comment 13 heart1010 2009-09-14 08:43:38 UTC
I saw notifications today!!!! The first ones ;-)

choqok is the same version as on bug opening but kde is newer, will check that during the day. So it looks like kde was the problem....!?

Now I have:

> kde4-config --version
Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 163"
kde4-config: 1.0

Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.20-0.4-default

(until last Friday I saw no notifications... don't know if there was updates in factory repo of suse in the last 3 days which were responsible for that)
Comment 14 heart1010 2009-10-12 10:17:44 UTC
again this problem...

on my 11.0 opensuse plattform I get the notifications as mentioned one post above (don't know why they appear from one day to another?!). Now on my laptop at home I have the same problem again. NO notifications.

This is opensuse 11.1 and the same choqok version and the same kde version as on my 11.0 plattform.

Really strange thing. On that 11.1 plattform I also don't get the yellow twitter messages (set user defined color yellow for new twitter messages).

So is this a/the problem? When I post a twitter message on that 11.1 plattform I GET THE "New status posted..." KNotify message!!!! But no yellow new incomming twitter color and NO KNitify message of new messages...

choqok (Version: 0.6.6-2.1 from the new KDE43-Repo)
KDE: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2) "release 5" (from the new KDE43-Repo)
Comment 15 eightmillion 2009-10-20 22:42:48 UTC
Update: I compiled and installed Choqok 1.0 Alpha 2 and I'm still not getting any notifications.

Other info:
Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Plasma Workspace: 0.3
Comment 16 heart1010 2009-10-21 08:38:24 UTC
@eightmillion: notifications aren't already finish in the new v1 version!

See changelog of alpha1 for example:

....that you may miss on upgrade:
    * Notifies for new posts.

in alpha2 content see comment 2 from Mehrdad: "I hope we can prepare it for next release!
But I don’t know when! "
Comment 17 eightmillion 2009-10-23 22:30:06 UTC
Thanks Heart. I suppose that will teach me not to read the changelogs. :)
Comment 18 Adrián Chaves (Gallaecio) 2012-09-19 05:45:41 UTC
Is this still hapenning in a newer version of Choqok? (e.g. 1.3 with KDE 4.9.1)
