Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

kdiff integration in broken in konqueror in KDE 4.3-0.1. In konqueror in kde3 a simple right-click presented kdiff as a context menu entry that allowed you to compare file and directory contents in a detailed matter. I have search, but can't find any type of kdiff integration in the new konqueror in kde 4.3.

The context menu integration and the options available in kde3 konqueror are shown in this screenshot:

When attempting to do the same thing in kde4 konqueror, here is what you are presented with:

One of the greatest benefits of the kde3 integration was the ability to flag a file for later comparison with another. The allowed smooth work flow when a comparison was needed by simply allowing the filename to be saved for comparison without having to break the current work flow to go hunt down the second file.

Now not only have you lost the efficiency of later flagging, but you have lost all integration of kdiff requiring you to start a separate application and navigate two (2) sets of file open dialogs to compare files, where before a simple right-click was all it took.

This is sorely missed.

Looks like you don't have the KDE 4 version of kdiff3 installed.

Pino,

Not so,

What's the trick. I have kdiff3-0.9.95-10.55 installed and there is no way to access any kdiff3 functions in kde4 konqueror. I'm running konqueror 4.3 release 155. There is nothing in the right-click context menu related to kdiff3 at all -- nothing.

I have been through the menus and cannot find anywhere to configure it. It is not listed in konqueror as a service or in any of the other "configure konqueror" dialogs. If it's there, where did you hide it?

What do you mean by "Looks like you don't have the KDE 4 version of kdiff3 installed."? Are you saying the integration I describe in the bug report is fully operational in kde4 konqueror, or is that quote just a few weasel words or a wild goose chase so I can waste more time looking for something that isn't there? What version should I have installed. If it works, just tell me and I'm happy to install another version, or build the latest from source??

This bug is, and has always been about the fact I can't right-click on a file and see the kdiff3 options to"

    Compare with file abcd....
    Merge with file efgh...
Save file ijkl... for use later
    3 way merge
Compare with .... [ brings up a list of recent files ]
    Clear
    Abound kdiff3 Plugin

This is the broken functionality, that has never been fixed in kde4

Installing the package kdiff3 in Kubuntu gives the expected behaviour. This may be a Suse packaging issue.
