Version: (using KDE 4.3.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages Matt, At http://mattr.info:8080/blog/2009/06/24/kopete-and-yahoo/ you mentioned that the fix was in for Kopete Yahoo Plugin and that the same was backported to the 4.3 branch. Well, right now I'm on 4.3 RC3 and I still can't login into Yahoo account with Kopete. I am currently using Pidgin for Yahoo, and it works. Filing a bug as you had requested.
I noticed that scsa.msg.yahoo.com resolves to different hosts in different locations. Here, in Bangalore - India, it resolves to: rrs@champaran:~$ ping scsa.msg.yahoo.com PING scsa.msg.yahoo.com (68.180.217.19) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from cs114.msg.sp1.yahoo.com (68.180.217.19): icmp_seq=1 ttl=49 time=338 ms 64 bytes from cs114.msg.sp1.yahoo.com (68.180.217.19): icmp_seq=2 ttl=49 time=332 ms Where as in my server in San Diego: rrs@web1:~$ ping scsa.msg.yahoo.com PING scsa.msg.yahoo.com (76.13.15.39) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from cs111.msg.ac4.yahoo.com (76.13.15.39): icmp_seq=1 ttl=56 time=77.7 ms 64 bytes from cs111.msg.ac4.yahoo.com (76.13.15.39): icmp_seq=2 ttl=56 time=78.7 ms Is there a way to check the version of the messenger server ?
But using the other server also didn't help.
Doesn't work here as well on FreeBSD and KDE 4.3.0. I get an error message: "17: remote host closed connection". It works fine though on my mac and adium using the same account.

I am not having trouble connecting to my yahoo account via the win32 version of 'pidgin'.
I can confirm that Kopete is not able to connect to Yahoo. I'm using Kopete Version 0.80.2 (KDE 4.3.4) This is the output I get when trying to connect to Yahoo: Object::connect: No such signal ClientStream::disconnected() Object::connect: (receiver name: 'yahooclient') Transfer ACCEPTED by: LoginTask Transfer ACCEPTED by: LoginTask
I have same issue with kopete: Version 0.80.2 Using KDE 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4) ----- Object::connect: No such signal ClientStream::disconnected() Object::connect: (receiver name: 'yahooclient') Transfer ACCEPTED by: LoginTask Transfer ACCEPTED by: LoginTask ------------ I noticed strange behavior, kopete worked before, but after some soft update it doesn't. After research I found that switched on proxy, "Manual" option, breaks yahoo connection. When I switch off proxy in konqueror - yahoo connects again. Checked several times the behavior. --------- Konqueror Version 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) Using KDE 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4)
Kopete has no support for proxies whatsoever, so you're on your own basically and your milage may vary. I can't reproduce this with the upcoming KDE 4.4 release.
