Version: (using KDE 4.2.98) Installed from: SuSE RPMs I left the marble desktop running for the entire weekend, when I came back today, the file .xsession-errors on my home dir was 1.9G in size. All messages where from marble. Some of them relating to blacklisted address, others to unable to download image, etc. I'll try to reproduce, and paste some of the messages here.
Some of the messages: timeChanged void SunLocator::update() MarbleMap: Updating the sun shading map... MarbleModel::update() TileLoader::update() kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/lib/kde4/kio_http.so kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/lib/kde4/kio_http.so timeChanged void SunLocator::update() MarbleMap: Updating the sun shading map... MarbleModel::update() TileLoader::update()
Just to clarify, since this was placed in the plasmoid component. I was using globe wallpaper, not the marble widget (my initial description wasn't very good). But I guess it is the same component that outputting the messages.
I confirm the same on Fedora 11 (from updates-testing repository as of 16th Aug 2009). But, the most important messages which fill up the are probably not the above but rather, these which come right after TileLoader::update(), Download rejected: It's being downloaded already: "maps/earth/citylights/1/000000/000000_000000.jpg" ... (SIMILAR MESSAGES REPEATED AT LEAST 100 times) The whole thing repeats for 2-3 runs and the count the above type of statements in each run seem to increase as well. After several such runs, instead of the above type of statements, I see ... Download rejected: Will try to download again in some time. ... repeated many types and for some runs after which I see ... "Download of maps/earth/citylights/1/000001/000001_000002.jpg Blacklisted. Number of blacklist items: 9" error "maps/earth/citylights/1/000001/000001_000003.jpg" 3 ... (MANY SIMILAR STATEMENTS)... TileLoader::update() Download rejected: Blacklisted. ... (MANY REPEATS OF THE ABOVE STATEMENT) I observed this happening when I had put marble widget on the desktop. Each run seems to occur at beginning of every minute. As a result, of the above type of errors accumulating over and over in each run, after some time at beginning of each minute the entire plasma would freeze for a few seconds initially and even upto half a minute after a day or so. I hope this will get fixed soon. My .xsession-errors is 8.2GB!!! over 2 days because of this.
Bug 196598 seems to be addressing the same issue...
