Description Frederik Schwarzer 2009-08-01 17:39:55 UTC
Version: 1.4.50 (using KDE 4.2.96)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Wouldn't it be great if Akregator fetched all feeds when the user clicks the systray icon with the middle mouse button?

Really? As a fellow Akregator user, I have to respectfully disagree. It's the first item in the right click menu, and I don't think it's something that should be getting hit often enough for that not to be convenient, to avoid unnecessary requests to servers.

Also, how is the user supposed to figure out that middle clicking does this?

Actually, since you are coming from the bottom of the menu, it is the fourth item.

1. It is convenient even if you use it once a day.
2. If I cannot use the middle click, I use the menu. Only speaking for me, this feature would not change anything for the server, just for me.

How did the user figured out, what it does on the Amarok or KMix icon?
Also, a feature does not _have_to_ be used by the user.

Well, for me it would still be nice to have this (it might even come for KMail (at least someone assigned the task to himself)).

Ah, yes, my panel is on the top edge of the screen.

I think that those cases are easier to figure out, because sound is affected right away. With this proposed feature, it would be hard for the user to tell what it does unless they have the window open.

Then again, I can't think of anything more useful to do when the tray icon is middle clicked, so I wouldn't actually be against this change, after all.

Ah, I misunderstood the "how could the user tell" issue a bit. I thought you meant how the user would know about the feature but your worries are about the user knowing about the consequences of his actions. Right, that's easier to get if the music starts playing. :)
