Version: (using KDE 4.2.96) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages In the preferences dialog, dolphin allows one to enable previews of "RAW photo camera files". Ticking that box, however, only seems to enable dolphin to preview .dng images. I'm not sure about all the other RAW-formats out there, but my Nikon .NEF files are not previewed. As a comparison, Geeqie Image viewer, Digikam, as well as Nautilus are all able to show previews of my .NEF files. Maybe this should be filed as a wishlist, rather than a bug, but since the wording in the preferences dialog is clearly misleading, I'm leaving this as a bug. Feel free to change it, if that makes more sense.
Sorry, I just realized this definitely is a bug (i.e. not a wishlist item), and that the fix probably is very very trivial. After noticing that I had a file called /usr/share/kde4/services/rawthumbnail.desktop, and that it contained image/x-nikon-nef under MimeType, I was a bit perplexed. That thing is, my .NEF files have the extension in capitals. After renaming them so that they're called .nef, the previewer works fine. So, for some reason, dolphin is case sensitive about the RAW-images. I'm updating to RC3 now, maybe this issue is fixed there?
The problem is still there with RC3. Thank god for krename :)
Works for me in KDE SC 4.4 ( Both .nef and .NEF work, I tested with: http://www.cardinalphoto.com/photos/D2X/Pe_Lelo_0028.nef ). Looks like it might have been an upstream issue, earlier. Please feel free to re-open, in case this still doesn't work for you.
