Version: (using KDE 4.2.98) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages After upgrading from 4.2.96 (RC2) to 4.2.98 (RC3), the "Applications" pane of the k menu is empty. Similarly, the computer has lost all file associations and application defaults. I can use krunner to open things, but clicking on files only brings up the 'open with' menu, and that is blank. This isn't exactly 'repeatable' but it is persistent, in that the problem is there even after restarting the computer. I should note that, during the installation (via Synaptic), my computer froze and I restarted. I then ran 'dpkg --configure -a' to continue installation, but was informed of broken packages. kdepim-lib (I think) needed to be reinstalled. After that, the upgrade was successful, but the items listed above were gone.
This is caused by the installation issue you mentioned. Try to re-install all the packages that the system were updating, (or at least, all the kde packages you have installed). Thanks
Thank you, that's got it fixed. E.T.
