Comment 1 Myriam Schweingruber 2009-07-25 15:48:39 UTC
Claude, could you please be more precise about the Amarok version and the distribution?

First of all, if you are running KDE, you should avoid pulseaudio, it's not needed in KDE.

Also, your backtrace is not useful as you don't have the debugging symbols. Please see here on how to reproduce a valid backtrace:

Comment 2 Claude 2009-07-25 16:42:00 UTC
Hello Myriam,

I am using Ubuntu 9.04, upgraded from 8.10.
Amarock version 2.02
Using KDE 4.2.2
I had no problems with Ubuntu 8.04 or 8.10.

Also another problem I do not get any sound when opening a file from my
folders although it is indicating that it is playing.

I am not a specialist so I cannot do more to help out.
Claude

Well, tis is due to two problems:
1. you are using pulseaudio. Remove this from your computer and make sure you use the phonon-xine-backend (syste Settings -> multimedia
2. You probalby don't have the mp3 codecs installed: the package name is libxine1-ffmpeg

And please, upgrade your Amarok version, 2.0.2 is completely outdated. The newer version, Amarok 2.1.1 is available in the jaunty-backports repository.

From your crash description and version number I am pretty sure this is solved in a more recent version, but please, remove pulseaudio, KDE doesn't need it at all and it causes too many problems.
Comment 4 Claude 2009-07-25 17:09:34 UTC
Hello,

If I remove Pulse audio it says that I remove UBUNTU-DESKTOP' I am not sure
if I want to remove that since I use Ubuntu.

Hello again,

I have installed libxine-ffmpeg as it was not installed and you recommended
it.
Now I can hear the files but only through my logitech USB headset (Alsa
mixer) although I have selected HDA NVIDIA (ALSA MIXER).

I am using Ubuntu with GNOME.

Comment 6 Myriam Schweingruber 2009-07-25 20:00:30 UTC
Well, in comment #2 you said you were using KDE 4.2.2...

Anyway, the sound problems are certainly not Amarok related, but more likely a settings problem with phonon. Amarok doesn't handle sound at all.
