Version: (using KDE 4.2.96) OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages amarok2.2-SVN steps to reproduce: 1. add the photos applet to your context view 2a. wait 20 hours or 2b. skip 20 songs result: The xserver uses a lot of memory and xrestop claims, that amarok is guilty. Without the photos widget this does not happen.
There have been a lot of reports for xorg memory leaks in various Amarok elements, but also with other applications, so I seriously suspect Xorg to be the culprit. The developers at freedesktop.org are aware of that problem since about a year... Merging this with bug 197242 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 197242 ***
Hi ! (sorry for my bad english !) xorg problem, hum... I have got this problem only with amarok 2.x. any other software have got this problem. I think, it's a amarok's bugs with big collection. it will better will SQL support come back (as amarok 4.1 with SQLite and after SQL) for big collection.
Actually, Amarok uses MySQL, not SQLite :) Also, this is specific to the photo applet which is at it's first commit, really nothing to worry about... Maybe a hint: these memory losses seem to happen only when something is downloaded from the web, be this Cover pictures (as in 197242) or pictures from flickr as in this report.
