Version: (using KDE 4.2.4) OS: Linux Installed from: Fedora RPMs Under Kontact configuration, calendar date and time, the time zone selection is "no selection" and there are no options listed. Calendar shows times as UTC. Would expect the time column header to show CDT and not UTC. All other programs, including system tray clock, show correct time and time zone (Americas/Chicago). Is there another location by which to change the calendar settings?
I can confirm this issue. The system setting for my workstation is UTC, but in my profile, I set the TZ environment variable to "America/Montreal". Most software honour that setting and display dates and times using the local TZ, However, that is not the case of the calendar in Korganizer. I modified ~/.kde4/share/config/korganizerrc and changed the "Timescale Timezones" in the Timescale section. See below : ----- begin config snippet ----- [Timescale] Timescale Timezones=America/Montreal ----- end config snippet ----- With this, I now have a second timescale in the calendar (instead of having only UTC). This does not solve the problem that all the Time and date configuration options are still in reference to UTC and not my local TZ. For example, if I want my daily starting hour to 09:00 America/Montreal I have to set the start time to 13:00 in the configuration dialog box. Furthermore, I expect that setting will be wrong when we go back to daylight saving time. This also means that if I receive event by E-Mail, they get added at the wrong time. There should be a local timezone setting in the configuration. This part would be more of a feature request, I would also like to have that setting available as a combobox in the toolbar. That would be very convenient, since, for example, if you go on a business trip from Montréal to San-Francisco it's very useful to be able to view your events in the local timezone.
Created attachment 50708 [details] Screenshot KOrganizer with the modified config file This show the result of the modification I did to the rc file which does not yield the result I expected. Although having a local timescale does help, it does not change the problem that everything is done in reference to UTC instead of local time.
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of korganizer (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
