I have the same problem. It happens most times when the machine is under high IO-load. Then I don't need to be very fast to be "too fast".

Hi,

I confirm this problem with my mandriva 2010 up to date (kde 4.3.2) and no need to be "to fast" or to have a high load load IO.

1. Create a new user
2. Login with the new user
3. Alt-F2 ==> krunner
4. Settings of krunner
5. Tab 'User interface'
6. Change 'Command oriented' to 'Task oriented'
7. Ok
8. Type 'konsoleµ' + enter
==> no result ... normal :-)
9. Erase the 'µ' + enter

==> crash of krunner

KRunner bug

Strange, but this "transformed" to another bug...

So when I enter "firef" and hit Enter twice very fast, KRunner doesn't crash, but it stucks. So it remembers "firef" all the time until I restart KDE (or issue `kquitapp krunner`) but it accepts everything I write into it.
I hope the attached screenshot is more precise than I :)

It doesn't occur every time, though (not so easy to reproduce as the original one).

It still consistently happens after upgrading to KDE SC 4.4 RC3

From bug 228658:

Krunner is running in task oriented view.
When trying to type this command "kdesu kate /boot/grub/menu.lst" krunner would
stop after "kdesu kate /boot/grub/menu". After klicking with the mouse into the
address bar it worked. When I tried to type in the command a second time after
I had started the application it worked fine.
Same with the command which caused the crash. Crash on the first time I've
typed the command, it worked on the second time.

launching various programs with quicksand (task oriented) causes this crash. sometimes the applications do not launch even when this crash does not happen explicitly. sequence: launch quicksand (ctrl-space) -> type name, select from list with enter -> icon shows in quicksand, hit enter -> the crash (and no application launched)

Same as the main report.

ALT+Space to bring up kRunner which i have set to the QuickSand UI.

type some letters and hit enter to select from the list on right, then enter again to start the app = crash (most of the time).

This bug has been fixed in the revision 1129275, now if any item is selected the first one is taken (0 instead of -1)
