Description ned 2009-07-16 05:57:57 UTC
Version: 2.1.1 (using 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.28-13-generic

The quick filter at the top of the collection pane appears to only check meta tags, and not the filename.

To reproduce:
1. add an mp3 with a useful filename but with no id3 tags
2. filter collection for a term in the filename
3. file does not show.

This wouldn't be so much of a problem, but adding meta tags to files seems to corrupt them, but I guess that's a different bug

This is not a bug, but intended behavior. Also, Amarok's tag editor doesn't "corrupt" files, no idea where you get that from. You can edit tags with an external editor if that suits you better, try kid3, easytag or picard.

So any files without tags/with wrong tags more or less can't be searched for?

I'd say this is a duplicate of bug #211905 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211905
