Description Jan Essert 2009-07-15 23:02:59 UTC
Version: amarok 2.1.1 (using KDE 4.2.4)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.3
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

The following does not work for me:
1. Put .m4b-file in some folder which does not belong to the collection.
2. Open this folder in the "Files"-pane on the left
3. Drag the m4b-File onto the playlist

Result: The file simply does not appear in the playlist.

Workaround: Rename .m4b files to .m4a or .mp4. This is not helpful when trying to put these files on an ipod, though. Adding the files to the collection also helps

In addition, these files cannot be dragged to my ipod (even if they are in my collection), but this might the same problem as bug #192851

I have reported this downstream at

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=267002

where it was suggested that I file a bug here. If you need additional information, just ask.

I can reproduce this with amarok-2.1.1 and gcc-4.3.2-r3 on x86. Willing to provide additional information as required.

This may also have to do with TagLib. I'm adding Jeff as he knows TagLib best.
Comment 5 Jeff Mitchell 2009-09-18 22:51:50 UTC
I must admit that I am currently stumped -- taglib's default file ref builder accepts m4b, and I added in custom file type resolvers that accept m4b, and still no-go. I'll keep looking into this though.
