Description Gérard Talbot (no longer involved) 2009-07-14 07:08:43 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Testcase and explanations:
http://www.justarrangingbits.org/demo/6/
and
http://www.positioniseverything.net/explorer/ie8stylednoscriptbug/index.html

Initial conditions:
Make sure javascript support is enabled in Konqueror

Steps:
Load http://www.positioniseverything.net/explorer/ie8stylednoscriptbug/index.html

Actual results in Konqueror 4.2.4:
An empty left-floating white-background box with a thick black border appears. Screenshot:

Expected results:
An empty left-floating white-background box with a thick black border should NOT appear, should not be rendered.

All credits should go to Paul Gobée for discovering this bug in IE 8 and for the article.

regards, Gérard

Dear user,

KHTML (and KJS) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6.

Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component.

We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes.

For security issues, please see:

https://kde.org/info/security/

Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
