Version: (using KDE 4.2.90) Dolphin has such entries (settings -> general -> previews) [ ] jpeg [ ] image files What will happen if I set image files but not jpeg? Or vice versa? I think the most obvious UI here is the list of checkboxes [ ] category : file lists for example: [ ] images: jpg, png, gif [ ] documents: odt, doc, pdf [ ] ... this way it is easy to find a category and also it is immediately obvious what filetypes are supported.
I agree with Maciej. Eventually it should simply be changed the label to: [ ] image files: jpg [ ] image files: other formats (png, gif, ...)
I agree with you, but it is tricky from an implementation point of view: Dolphin just lists all available preview plugins and has no clue about the semantics of a preview plugin. There is a separate plugin for JPEGs in addition to a generic image plugin because some special handling is done in the JPEG plugin (fast decoding of JPEGs when the preview size is very small). A kind of category would be useful. Hmm, maybe this can be achieved by analyzing the used mime types and group them...
