Version: (using KDE 4.2.4) Installed from: SuSE RPMs (There are a lot of 'Wishlist' / feature requests re: Kmail / Kontact archiving / backup functionality, but my request was too concrete to fit anywhere ... ) It would be very convenient if the "Save as" > (save as .mbox) functionality were expanded so that one could save ALL emails (that is from ALL folders) as an .mbox file. (Currently, one can only save all emails out of one single folder. If one has a large number of different folders -- like me -- saving each one becomes a tedious matter.) I suggest two ways for saving these emails: (1.) SIMPLE / PLAIN SAVE: ALL emails are saved into one big .mbox file. (2). HIERARCHICAL (and preferable): emails are saved into separate .mbox files according to the folder they are in. The name of the .mbox file should ideally reflect the folder structure, for example: FRIENDS BOB email 1 email 2 etc. MARY email 1 email 2 etc. WORK BOSS email 1 email 2 etc. ELEVATOR GIRL email 1 email 2 etc. would be saved into 4 separate .mbox files: 1. "FRIENDS - BOB.mbox" 2. "FRIENDS - MARY.mbox" 3. "WORK - BOSS.mbox" 4. "WORK - ELEVATOR GIRL.mbox"
Actually, it would be fantastic if the IMPORT feature could be adjusted so that hierarchical folders were created from the .mbox files (that is, importing all 4 .mbox files from the example above would recreate the original folder structure ... ).
Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented. Thank you for your understanding.
Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
