Description Sean 2009-07-08 03:34:21 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

Kmail will retrieve mail from off-site server, but will NOT upload mail. I have tried erasing all and reinstalling; no luck. Error reported by Kmail:
"Sending failed: mail.speakeasy.net: unknown error."
My internet provider is Speakeasy.
When I first configured Kmail, it worked. As soon as I imported files from my earlier version (on Fedora Core 7) I could no longer send mail. Tried starting Kmail from the command line. Got error message referring to Enchant -- the spell-check wrapper. Apparently part of the problem was Kwallet. I was able to recover the lost password to Kwallet and get that working with Kmail, but it didn't solve the problem.

Try creating a new account from scratch, entering all needed bits for the sending server, then try to send a new mail via that account.
If that still does not work, try sending a mail while capturing your network traffic with wireshark and attach the captured log here.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
